AT 309 Week 1: Introduction and e-Portfolio Critique
About Me
My name is Ethan Hood and I am a junior at Purdue University. My hobbies include gardening, video games, and playing music (mainly string instruments).
My background in aviation and UAS is extremely limited. All of my knowledge in the field comes from what I have learned in classes offered at Purdue. I chose UAS after someone I went to highschool with told me about the major. UAS are very interesting to me and I think they would offer an exciting career.
E-Portfolio Critique
Ricky Vogel - https://rvogeluas.blogspot.com/
This e-portfolio is written very professionally. I like that he uses many images to make sure the reader does not get lost. He writes in third person most of the time and there are few grammar mistakes. The blog is setup in a way that is easy to navigate. Overall, this is a clearly presented e-portfolio that is easy to read.
Kaleb Gould - https://kagould.blogspot.com/
Kaleb Gould's e-portfolio is also setup in a way that makes it easy to navigate. His introductions use real world situations to make the reader understand the topic in a more personal way. For the actual post, he formats it in a step by step way which is beneficial for readers who want to learn from his posts. While his use of first person makes it easier to empathize with the problem, it also makes the posts somewhat confusing at times.
John Cox - https://johncox1121.blogspot.com/
The layout of this e-portfolio is also easy to navigate. I like John Cox's use of captions on his figures. This is a small detail, but often times writers don't use captions and end up explaining the figure in a paragraph below. When captions are used it gives the reader an added context that makes it easier to read. He also puts notes in his blog that explain confusing images. I like the effort he puts in to making his blogs clear and concise.
Aaron Varnau - https://aaronvarnauuas.blogspot.com/
Similar to Kaleb Gould's posts, Aaron Varnau introduces the topics in a way that makes the readers aware of a particular problem. The body of his posts are mainly written in third person. This makes the post look more professional. I like the use of third person, but some of his sentences read similar to bullet points. This makes the topic seem uninteresting at times.
Mike Luellman - https://mikeluellmanuas.blogspot.com/
This e-portfolio was not formatted as well as the other portfolios. Most of the links are broken or lead to empty pages. I like his introductions which are similar to Kaleb and Aaron's introductions. They all use short stories to tell the reader something pertaining to the post. He uses first person in most of his sentences. While reading his post I noticed that there aren't very many images used. This can make it difficult for the reader as they have to imagine the topic and problem with no visual aid.
